Natural Stone Walling & Stonework in Oxfordshire
Natural stone walling, stone extensions and repairs to period stone buildings.
Much of Oxfordshire is built in natural stone, and it needs a mason who knows how to work with it. I build and repair natural stone walling for cottages, houses and gardens from Bicester out to Witney, Banbury and Oxford.
New work includes stone-built extensions and garden walls, laid to match the coursing and stone of the existing building. Repair work includes taking down and rebuilding defective or bulging sections of wall, replacing failed stones and repointing.
Older stone buildings were built with lime mortar, which lets the wall breathe. I can repoint with lime-based mortar where the building calls for it, rather than hard cement that traps damp and damages the stone.

“Chris and his team helped with our extension in natural stone and as well as completing an 80 sqm french limestone patio towards the end of the job. We're really pleased with the finish in all areas. I can highly recommend contacting Chris for natural stone buildings, refurbishments, repairs and rebuilds, it's clearly a passion for him.”
Stonework: common questions
Do you work on old stone cottages?
Yes. I regularly repair and rebuild natural stone walls on older properties across Oxfordshire, and can use lime-based mortar where the building needs it.
Can you build a new extension in natural stone?
Yes. My team and I build extensions in natural stone, laid to match the stone and coursing of the existing house.
Can a damaged stone wall be repaired rather than rebuilt?
Often, yes. If the wall is sound, failed stones can be replaced and the wall repointed. If a section is bulging or loose it is safer to take that section down and rebuild it. I'll tell you which applies when I see it.
